This fan is the perfect one for a home. You hardly hear any noise from it. I install the fan motor in the attic on a sheet of plywood between two rafters with easy access. You do not have to disturb the insulation. It is noise free. For me it is the best fan for a bathroom. yes it may be a bit more and a bit more work but I would never go back with ceiling hung.This is best for me.It is been there for 5 years and absolutly maintenance free and I live in NB where the climate could be a bit harsh. So good luck
